Beyond ICM

Satellite Conferences & Events

While a formal call will be put out in due time, in line with our emphasis on collaboration and in facilitating mathematical interactions across the world, we have reached out to institutions in Europe and beyond. The following institutions have either committed to hosting satellite conferences and events, or will accept applications for such events through specific funding mechanisms.

UK:

  • ICMS, Edinburgh
  • Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge

Europe:

  • Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, Bonn
  • MFO Oberwolfach, Germany
  • Rényi Institute, Budapest
  • CIRM, Marseille
  • ICMAT, Madrid
  • Banach Center, Warsaw

North America:

  • ICERM, Providence, Rhode Island
  • Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), Montréal

Africa:

  • AIMS Ghana, Accra

(WM)2 – World Meeting for Women in Mathematics

Among the satellite events of ICM 2030, we recognise the particular importance of the (WM)2, held in the interval between the IMU General Assembly and the opening of the Congress. Its timing naturally requires close coordination of logistics, especially regarding registration and participant flow. From the moment the Congress is awarded, the Local Organising Committee will maintain an open and continuous dialogue with the IMU Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) to ensure that all aspects of the (WM)2 are jointly planned, responsive to the needs of the community, and fully integrated into the wider ICM framework. We look forward to this collaboration and to building on the expertise of the CWM. Drawing on the advice of previous (WM)2 organisers, we are confident in our ability to provide an excellent environment for the meeting within the University of Glasgow premises and to streamline administrative processes across both events. To ensure smooth travel from the GA to the (WM)2 venue, we propose coordinated flights either on the evening before or the morning of the meeting, arriving in Glasgow with ample time for participants to register by 9:00 am. The (WM)2 programme will take place in a dedicated venue offering hybrid meeting capabilities, including lecture rooms equipped for high quality broadcasting.

A buffet style lunch will be served in a purpose designed space with round tables to facilitate interaction and thematic discussions. Within our compact 2 km congress model, the (WM)2 venue lies within a pleasant 30 minute walk of the ICM Welcome Reception; for convenience, bus transportation will also be available.

We will ensure that registration for (WM)2 and ICM is seamlessly integrated. In the spirit of inclusivity, participants not initially registered for (WM)2 but wishing to attend, will be able to complete their ICM registration at the (WM)2 site.

Country Receptions During ICM

There are a wide range of venues available for individual organisations who wish to host their own reception during ICM, many within the 250m radius of the SEC, and all within our 2km radius. There is support available from Glasgow Convention Bureau to book these.
